Our Dancing Champion Achieves his Dream!

We wish to congratulate our Year 11 pupil, Theo Shirt who has succeeded in securing numerous offers to pursue his dream of studying dance when he leaves us here at Holy Trinity!

His offers were numerous and include, ‘The Royal Conservatoire, Scotland’ and ‘The Northern Ballet, Manchester’. It has been a difficult decision but Theo has now taken up the offer he received from ‘The Central School of Ballet’ in London and will start a 3 year degree in September. Alongside this, he will spend his Saturdays attending the associate programme offered by The Royal Ballet School in Covent Garden.

Auditions have been gruelling and many miles of travelling to attend them all has been tough, but Theo has remained focused, determined and highly motivated to succeed from the start. Theo has danced competitively since the age of 5 and last year represented England at the Dance World Cup which is the largest, all-genre international dance competition for children and young adults in the world and features representatives from across 62 countries. He came away having won 6 Gold Cups, 7 Silver Cups and 1 Bronze Cup. As soon as his exams finish this summer, he will be flying out to Spain to compete again, performing 12 dances in total, 5 of which will be solos.

Theo’s ultimate goal is to dance professionally as part of a Company such as Northern Ballet or the more contemporary Matthew Bourne, New Adventures theatre company.

His passion and talent for dance is evident! His hard work, incredible effort and resilience underpin his success. Theo is a young person with an incredible growth mind-set, who knows what he wants and is doing everything he can to get it. He is an amazing role-model for us all.

We wish Theo every success with his future competitions and studies!
