South Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive (SYPTE) have sent the following communication to Holy Trinity about the upcoming withdrawal of the 451 bus.

We have been advised that from the 3rd June, Globe Coaches will no longer provide service 451 from Staincross/Royston/Carlton to Holy Trinity School.

On some days they have carried as little as 5 or 6 pupils per journey.  Some days pupils use the Watersons 37s and on others they use the 451 as they run at similar times, depending which bus comes first as Watersons can cater for all the pupils.  On average they have only being carrying 22 pupils per trip which is unsustainable for a commercial bus operator.

Students can either use the Watersons service or alternatively some students can use the Stagecoach local services.  No pupil should be affected other than having to use an alternative service already available to them.

Any parents or pupils wishing to contact us have a number of customer contact points.  www.travelsouthyorkshire.com/contactus provides these options with email, facebook and twitter being more popular.  However Traveline is available on 01709 515151 for those wishing to speak to someone or alternative SYPTE have customer helpdesks at all of our interchanges, including at Doncaster Interchange.

All bus services operate on a commercial basis and if the operator doesn’t make money on the service they can and do inform SYPTE of their intention to withdraw the service.  It is very disappointing when bus services are removed but Holy Trinity has no control, or influence on the bus services. BMBC, together with other Local Authorities, removed the discretionary free travel to pupils of faith schools some years ago due to budget cuts.
