Congratulations and Good Luck!

On Saturday 10th June the South Yorkshire Schools’ Athletics Championships took place in Doncaster. Representing Holy Trinity and Barnsley was Year 9 student Vanessa Ndambakuwa, who was running in the Junior Girls (Year 8 & 9) 200m.

On a red-hot day Vanessa cruised through her heat in the morning then produced a scorching performance in the afternoon to clinch the title. Vanessa’s winning time was 25.7 seconds, and she was a full 2 seconds in front of the 2nd placed athlete, which is a huge margin.

Her time was not as quick her incredible Personal Best of 25.06, which is the fastest in the UK this year for her age group, but still inside the 26.2 needed to qualify her for the English Schools’ Championships which take place in Birmingham at the end of June.

We wish Vanessa the best of luck as she aims to be a National champion!
