Our Y9 students have all been involved in learning how to respond to a person having a cardiac arrest. Less than 1 in 10 people in the UK survive an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Every delay reduces a person’s chance of survival. A cardiac arrest is the ultimate medical emergency. This practical training has proved crucial and effective in saving lives in those all important first minutes of a cardiac arrest .
The British Heart Foundation’s “Restart a Heart” team together with members of the emergency services worked with all our Year 9 students giving them hands on training and confidence in what to do in case of such a medical emergency.
